Christian Science is rooted in the teachings and healing works of Christ Jesus. It is the law of God, the law of good — available to be understood and lived.
What is Christian Science?
Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered and founded Christian Science, defined it as “the law of God, the law of good.” She had learned that God is infinite Love, and completely good. A clear glimpse of this through prayer has power to heal and transform anyone.
In 1866, after a critical injury, she turned to God with her whole heart. While reading accounts of Jesus’ healings she experienced a new sense of God — that God, Spirit, is the only reality — and she was healed. She studied the Bible to understand what had happened, and found universal, dependable laws of God. Those laws are the foundation of this church.
We gather not as spectators, but as a community learning to rely on God. Services, Sunday School, testimony meetings, and the Reading Room all support that work.

Bradenton’s Christian Science congregation
First Church of Christ, Scientist, Bradenton is a branch of The Mother Church in Boston. We are a healing church: inspirational services, a Wednesday testimony meeting, and a public Reading Room that support anyone exploring the Bible and Christian Science.
You do not need to be a member to attend. If you are looking for Christian Science in Manatee County, you have found it.

Mary Baker Eddy wanted to find solutions to human suffering. Her primary work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, is studied alongside the Bible in every Christian Science church. Together they point to the practical healing and saving power of God, present and available for all.
